GALLOWAY LADIES CRICKET TEAM BOWLED OVER WITH VICTORY AGAINST POLOC

Galloway Ladies Vs Poloc Ladies

A magnificent team performance from Galloway which saw them record an impressive victory over Poloc, winning by 181 runs.

Skipper Natalie Hamblin lost the toss, but this would be the only thing to go against them in what was a dominant display. Poloc elected to field first and the plan seemed to work removing Pavlina Van Rooyen for just one. However, this brought Kate Maxwell to the crease alongside Ginger Ramsay (sponsored by Rancher, Castle Douglas) and this was to be crucial as a whopping 162 run partnership soon gave Galloway control of the game.

Kate Maxwell scored 84 hitting 16 fours in what was an impressive innings and was joined by an equally impressive innings by Ginger Ramsay, who scored 56 hitting 8 fours. When Kate and Ginger were dismissed Galloway were sitting in a demanding position of 196-3 off 24 overs.

A handy 27 not out from young Tegan Line who struck 4 fours also looked in very good touch brought the score after 30 overs to 225-5.

If the batting was impressive, the bowling was equally if not more impressive as Poloc were dismissed for 44 off 9.1 overs.

Pony Ramsay (sponsored by Irvings Bakery, Castle Douglas) got the ball rolling taking a wicket in the first over and was joined by Natalie Hamblin who took a wicket in her first over. The score was 3-2 and a magnificent and crucial run out by Orla Montgomery soon brought the score to 3-3. A perfect start for the Galloway Ladies who were more than enjoying their day at Ayr Cricket Club. There was no let up for Poloc as Galloway were on form with both the ball and in the field which saw Orla Montgomery (sponsored by CAM Engineering, Castle Douglas) take a catch, Ginger Ramsay take a stumping and Tegan Line take a fantastic run out.

There was a little resistance from Poloc, but they were dismissed for 44 all out seeing Natalie take the final wicket on the first ball of her 4th over. The skipper ended up with mighty impressive figures of 5-9 off 3.1 overs and was helped along nicely by Pony Ramsay who took 3-11 off 4 overs.

A truly magnificent display from Galloway and they will be looking to take this dominating kind of display into future games.
