Kieran Hobbins will be between the pipes for Building Craftsmen Dumfries sponsored Solway Sharks next season, the club have confirmed .
The 21-year-old grew into the starting goalie position last season and was a huge part of the Sharks’ post Christmas resurgence which saw them climb from eighth to fourth in the NIHL table and clinch the last playoff place.
This season will be Hobbins’ fifth with the Sharks and included a year out in 14/15 before he returned last season.
Speaking on the signing, coach Martin Grubb said: “Hobbs was someone who I thought had an exceptional season last year and got better the more games he played.
“He had been out of the game for a year but came back and worked very hard to get in shape and give us a chance to win each night.
“Starting from the first puck drop I really expect him to push on and take his game to the next level now. He is a goalie who has all the tools and with more focus and hard work he will be an important player this season.”
Kieran Hobbins will pull on the #31 for BCD Solway Sharks this season and will be joined by two defensive recruits tomorrow – one returning and one brand new to the Sharks.
