Unique Ice Hockey Opportunity for Local Youngsters

Local ice hockey players have a unique opportunity this Sunday when international company Bauer bring the Bauer Experience to Dumfries Ice Bowl.  Working in conjunction with the Junior Solway Sharks, Dumfries and Galloway Council and Scottish Ice Hockey Association, this is the first time Bauer have ventured north of the Border.

For those unfamiliar with the event, the Bauer Experience provides a unique opportunity to hit the ice and try out the latest Bauer skates, sticks, gloves and helmets for free! Bauer experts will be on hand to help you find the right gear to elevate your game, and local coaches will put you through some drills to help you get a feel for the equipment.

SIHA Junior Chairman Graeme Houston said, “SIHA are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Bauer UK, and excited that for the very first time the UK Bauer Experience will be heading to Scotland.  Kit can be expensive, and with no local supplier it can be difficult to ensure you are ordering the correct size and style.  This event gives everyone the chance to try before they buy, with guidance and advice from the experts. This is a great chance for players to see how Bauer skates, sticks, helmets and gloves can help them improve their game.”
Solway Sharks and Juniors head coach Martin Grubb commented, “This is a unique opportunity for local ice hockey players, and those just starting out in the sport, to take advantage of the years of experience that Bauer and their experts have in manufacturing top quality equipment.  Having Bauer experts on hand to assist with fitting and give advice just adds to the experience.  I will be on hand with some of our local coaches at both sessions, running some on-ice drills to let players really see what a difference Bauer equipment can make to them.”

Spaces for the event on Sunday 20th are limited and must be booked in advance, with an under 13s session for those born 2005 or later at 9am, and over 13s on the ice at 11am.  Anyone interested should register their interest at [email protected] before the event.
