JOHNSTONEBRIDGE TEENAGE WHEELCHAIR ATHLETE TO RACE IN FIRST MARATHON

Shelby has cerebral palsy, she’s 16 and goes to Moffat Academy. She started wheelchair racing seriously about 4 months ago, and is now training with the Scottish Disability Sports National Team along side Meggan Dawson Farrell and Samantha Kinghorn who are both competing in the commonwealth Games in Glagow later this year .

Right now Shelby is training for her first marathon which will be the Virgin London mini marathon and she is the only racer from Dumfries & Galloway.

As well as the marathon she will also be spending this year travelling up and down the UK racing and representing the D&G region as a  team member  of Red Star Athletics, which is an athletics club  based in Glasgow.

Shelbys Very Proud  Mum Rebekah,  Told DGWGO Tonight ” She is so determined to one day become a Paralympian and with her determination and commitment we all have no doubt she will!! “

” Shelby is the only wheelchair racer in The Whole of D&G , her story is pretty remarkable and she will be competing all over the UK in the next year hoping to bring some medals and records home to Johnstonebridge “
