Premier League Win For Dumfries Ladies – Cricket News

In the Scottish Women’s Premier League at Grange, Lorna Jack dominated the scoring for the local side in the first half of the innings with a rapid score of 55. Sue Strachan was the factor after that and reached her first century in the final over, and the first ever by the side, with 103 not out in the total of 240 for 4 after the 30 overs. Nicola Brown played her part with an 113 run unbeaten partnership batting with Sue.

Then the maxim of bowling accurately worked against a young side. Rosy Ryan delivered an inswinging yorker to hit the stumps first ball and thereafter wickets tumbled. Ryan took three wickets, Captain Orla Montgomery bowled quick and straight for two and Katy Anderson claimed a wicket bowled second ball and also took two as Grange could only reach a total of 21 in reply. Jack and Niamh Muir bowled some spin and they shared the final two wickets. The coach’s highlight in the field was an excellent swift run out by Emma Fordyce to get the second wicket in the second over.
