South of Scotland Golfers Association Offers New Opportunities

The Association is the communication link between all golf clubs in Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Golf Ltd, and is the vehicle to use when seeking to influence decision making by golf’s governing body.

Recently the South Executive has had the addition of two new members who are now responsible for directing the course of the South Team in competition with other regions. They have also been the link to Scottish Golf expressing the South’s views regarding the Annual National Area Team Championship.

New blood and fresh views can be a lifeline for many organisations and presently the opportunity is available to any golfer, who is a member of any golf club in Dumfries and Galloway affiliated to Scottish Golf, to join the South Executive in the role of Secretary and/or Treasurer. These posts attract an annual remuneration.

The Secretarial Role involves the management of Executive Meetings, responding to Scottish Golf Ltd when asked for information or opinions, communicating with clubs on such matters and after executive consultation responding to any matters raised by clubs.
The Treasurer’s Role is to manage the Association bank account and report to the Executive on all matters relating to Finance. The treasurer is responsible for the annual collection of the local association affiliation fees from clubs and carries out the decision making of the Executive regarding the distribution of funds to support the three County Associations and the Squads ofSeniors and Juniors representing the South.

Previous experience of such roles is a bonus, but not essential, as the most important quality required is a desire to assist the South Association in performing to the best of its ability in support of all the golfers in Dumfries and Galloway.

Interested parties should initially contact the Association via the contact link of the
“SouthofScolandGolf” website.
