GATEHOUSE OF FLEET, SCOTLAND – One of the biggest sporting events ever staged in Dumfries and Galloway is set to roll into Gatehouse of Fleet this weekend, as The Gralloch 2025 welcomes nearly 3,000 riders from over 35 nations, alongside thousands of spectators, teams, and industry exhibitors.
Now in its third year, The Gralloch has quickly risen to become the UK’s leading gravel cycling event, forming part of the UCI Gravel World Series and offering elite athletes the opportunity to qualify for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships. Alongside the elite race, this year also sees the introduction of a non-competitive Gravel Sportive, inviting hundreds more riders to explore the region’s unrivalled network of forestry tracks, gravel roads and scenic climbs.
Locals and visitors alike can enjoy a packed weekend of free-to-attend community activities designed to leave a lasting legacy in the region, including live concerts, kids races, mechanic workshops, a street food festival, cycling demos, pub quizzes, and more. Local businesses are set to benefit from a major visitor boost, with hotels, cafes, shops and local attractions anticipating a record weekend. The expanded Event Village and increased duration of the event is expected to bring meaningful economic and cultural impact to Gatehouse of Fleet and the surrounding communities.
“This weekend is a milestone for the South of Scotland,” said Maximilian Wussler, Event Director and Co-Founder. “We’re showcasing Galloway not just as a world-class gravel cycling destination, but as a region full of community spirit, natural beauty, and potential for adventure tourism. It’s incredible to see the global cycling community discovering what we’ve known all along — this place is special.”
With support from EventScotland, part of VisitScotland, and Dumfries & Galloway Council, The Gralloch continues to drive economic impact and help establish the South of Scotland as a rising destination for international cycling events and outdoor tourism.
“Galloway Forest Park, a location renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and challenging trails, is the perfect stage for The Gralloch.
