Appeal Following Fatal Road Crash In South Ayrshire

Road Policing officers in Ayrshire are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road crash near Minishant in South Ayrshire.

The incident happened on the B7045 at the junction with the B742, involving a blue Vauxhall Vectra and a blue Ford Kuga around 7.35am on Wednesday, 17 November.

The 19-year-old driver of the Vauxhall, Cameron Leith (pictured) from Ayr, was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock and subsequently to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. He died in the hospital on Thursday, 18 November, 2021. His family is aware. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Craig Beaver, Ayrshire Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Mr Leith’s family at this sad time.
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and would ask anyone who has not yet come forward with information to get in touch with police.
“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or motorists with dash-cam footage from around the time of the crash.
“Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting incident 0429 of 17 November.”
