A new live-work studio has become available at Midsteeple Quarter, offering a slightly different way of living and working on Dumfries High Street.
The studio forms part of The Standard, the flagship community-owned building within Midsteeple Quarter, and is available for long-term rent at a mid-market rate from February.
Live-work studios are designed to combine a home and a working space within a single property. Rather than separating daily life and work across different locations, the idea is to allow small-scale businesses, creatives, and sole traders to operate from the same place they live, while still maintaining a clear distinction between the two.
While common in some larger cities, this type of setup is still relatively unusual locally. Its arrival in Dumfries reflects a broader shift in how town-centre spaces are being reimagined, with a focus on flexibility, mixed use, and everyday activity rather than empty units.
Midsteeple Quarter is a community-owned regeneration project aimed at bringing new homes, businesses and footfall back into the heart of Dumfries. The addition of a live-work studio adds another layer to that approach, blurring the traditional lines between residential and commercial space on the High Street.
All enquiries for the studio are being handled by Midsteeple Quarter’s housing partners Homes For Good, with full details available via the Rightmove listing.
