DGWGO went along to find out more…

Canine arthritis can affect dogs of all ages.

Morag said: ‘Everybody thinks it’s an old dog disease. It’s not just an old dog disease. Many young dogs develop it like in their puppyhood. We are here to show people what they can do to prevent canine arthritis. Simple things, like just things you can do in the house and not using a ball launcher.”

Fiona Campbell said: “Your first protocol is usually your vet as quite a lot of the time with arthritis your dog will need a bit of pain relief. So they’re always a good place to start. There are a few of us around here that can also help. So I myself am a veterinary physiotherapist and I can do exercises that help.”

Fiona added “I’ve also got a laser which is a really good tool for reducing pain, reducing inflammation and promoting healing without it being drugs based. We’ve also got Morag who does hydrotherapy which again is really good for building up muscle, building up a bit of fitness, especially in dogs that maybe can’t go as far as they used to.

All proceeds went to Canine Arthritis Management

The Canine Arthritis Management community focuses on canine arthritis & giving dogs improved quality and quantity of life.
