Thornhill Couple Trying to Find Homes for 400 Rescued Hens

Thornhill Farming Couple Pauline and Derek Stewart have recently taken in nearly 400 hens which have come directly from an egg production farm and they are looking to rehome them all in small groups to their forever homes.

The rehoming takes place from Marr Farm DG3 4AW but is in conjunction with Underheugh Ark Rescue, a charity based in Gourock as their accommodation for the hens was severely damaged in the high winds.

Pauline told DGWGO “The hens are 2 years of age and although coming from a free range farm, they have spent more than half of their lives indoors due to the Avian flu restrictions. Normally the hens are sent to slaughter but Underheugh Ark rescue has taken the opportunity to save these girls and let them live out their natural lives as pets.”

Anyone interested in rehoming should supply a picture of where the hens will be sleeping and a photo of their outdoor area.
