£20,000 OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY THORNHILL LEAD THEFT

Police Scotland is investigating a large scale theft of lead flashing from a number of farm buildings just off the A702 road north of Carronbridge, Thornhill. The thefts have occurred sometime between 11 February and 10 March 2016. The lead flashing has been stolen from the roofs of the farm buildings and an estimate of the value of the lead is in the region of £5000, however the cost of full restoration of the flashing could be as much as £20,000.

Constable Alan Steel at Thornhill said “we want to hear from anyone who has seen or heard anything suspicious in or around the Carronbridge area over the past month or so. In particular we are interested in any suspicious movement of vehicles in this area, as a vehicle would have to have been used to remove the lead from the area. Police Scotland can be contacted through the 101 number.”
