£205 THOUSAND WORTH OF CUTS TO REGIONS BUS SERVICE AGREED

At a meeting held today at Council Hall, Council Offices, English Street, Dumfries a scaled-down package of cuts to bus services across Dumfries and Galloway has been agreed.

The original £315,000 cuts planed have   been revised in the face of considerable public opposition to the potential loss of evening and Sunday services across the region.

South West of Scotland Transport Partnership (SWestrans) has considered cuts to evening and Sunday bus services to the value of £315,000 the to help absorb fall in local authority funding.

Todays revised plans cutting £205,000 worth of services  have now been agreed.

The partnership previously deferred a decision on the move to allow for a short period of public consultation.

Agreement has now been reached on its new proposals.
