3 Workers With COVID At Browns Manufacturing Limited, Kelloholm

Management at Browns Manufacturing site in Kelloholm have identified 3 COVID cases out of over 600 employees over the last two weeks  and this has prompted a quick response to identify and address any risk.

While there is not currently anything to suggest an undue degree of concern, in the interest of staff welfare and in support of work to help limit the spread of COVID, testing is set to be provided for staff on-site this week.

We are arranging for all available staff to be tested via a mobile testing unit (MTU) which will be visiting the site on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th October.

We have been working closely with the Dumfries and Galloway Public Health Team following identification of cases as part of the widespread testing activity currently taking place across Scotland.

Dumfries and Galloway’s Public Health Team have been helping with arrangements for testing, while the Test and Protect team carry out their role of identifying any close contacts to reduce the possibility of onward transmission.

A spokesman for NHS Dumfries and Galloway said: “We are currently experiencing cases of COVID across all four localities in the region, and with an increase in case numbers across Scotland as a whole.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone, either as an individual or organisation, who plays a role in working with the local Public Health and Test and Protect team to address cases of COVID, helping to ensure the risk posed to our communities is minimised.

“We will continue to work with Browns and will provide any updates as and if required.”
