76 Year Old Man Who Died In Car Incident At Palmerston Named

A man who died in a car crash at Palmerston on Lochfield Road in Dumfries, where a number of people were injured at the weekend has been named.

He was 76-year-old James Maxwell Johnstone.

The crash happened around 5.50pm on Saturday, 25 November, 2023.

Mr Johnstone was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Sergeant Wayne Carnochan of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Johnstone’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank all members of the public for their assistance at the incident.”

A  Spokesperson for Queen of the South FC stated on Sunday 26th Novemeber “After last nights tragic events in the Arena car park following our Scottish Cup win over Dundee United, everyone at the club would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the gentleman who sadly passed away.
Our thoughts are also with those injured in the incident and wish them all a speedy recovery.
Once again we would like to thank everyone who helped, including the emergency services, stewards, personnel from both clubs and those supporters who stepped up to assist. Everyone really came together so thank you.”
