Big Burns Supper celebrate extension of Loreburn Hall license by offering free venue rental for 10 new ideas

Big Burns Supper are offering free venue rental for new event ideas that can be staged between 1st of April and 30th September.

Dumfries & Galloway Councillors agreed to grant permission for extended use of the Hall for another six months whilst the Big Burns Supper develop the longer-term business plan for the Hall and the Council agree on the future leasing conditions.

The organisation behind the Loreburn Hall, Dumfries Community Choir and Le Haggis are looking for 10 event ideas that will form part of the next programme and asking event producers or managers with event ideas to step forward with their event proposals which the Big Burns Supper and its volunteers will support.

Proposals can be for any type of event and can be proposed by any type of business type, including individuals and young people.

Dumfries & Galloway Council have granted permission for extended use of the Hall for another six months whilst the Big Burns Supper develop their business plan for the Hall.

Loreburn Hall has a variety of different spaces which can be used in different set ups, including a 1200 capacity Main Hall with its own sound system and production facilities, as well as the more intimate Le Haggis lounge with a capacity of 50.

Chief Executive of Big Burns Supper, Graham Main said

“We will be providing free venue rental to get the right ideas off the ground so that the Hall can be sustained longer term and remain in community hands until the Council reach a longer-term decision about how leasing will work”

“It was pleasing to see Councillors engaging in a thoughtful discussion about the future of the Hall and to see that consideration has been given to our economic position. However, it is important to point out that during the rental period we will have saved the Council £28k in heating and energy costs alone and that we are responsible for all maintenance in the space.”

Anyone who has an idea can submit this at www.bigburnssupper.com/venue-hire Closing date for event ideas is 28th Feb
