Police Identify 74-Year-Old Woman Who Died in Solway Estuary Mud

UPDATE: Police have formally identified the woman who tragically died on the Solway estuary as 74-year-old Shona Campbell, after she called to report that she had become stuck in the mud.

” Police Scotland have reported that a body has been found in the Solway Estuary, Cummertrees near Annan during the search for missing woman Shona Campbell

A Spokesperson stated “At around 5.40pm on Tuesday, 10 December, 2024, the body of a woman was located in the Solway Estuary, Cummertrees, Annan.

Formal identification has still to take place. However, the family of Shona Campbell, 74, who was missing in the area have been informed.”

The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
