Derek is an enthusiastic amateur photographer who enjoys nothing better than a day out somewhere in Dumfries & Galloway with his trusty Canon camera and tripod, never short of subject matter whether it be the beautiful harbours and bays of the Rhinns, some of the iconic landmarks that exist in the area or the abundance of wild and not so wild life that is to be found in and around D & G.
As for the nights, well they are often spent in the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park practising the skills required for dark sky photography, something which appears to be increasing in-line with the popularity of the park itself judging by the number of people enjoying the same activity!
A resident now for eight years in D & G but can trace his roots back to Blackcraig near Newton Stewart back to the 1800’s and keen to do his bit showcasing D & G with his photography. ”
