BIKE FOR BEN ( Dumfries Couple raise money for Yorkhill charity in name honor of their sons memory)
On May 17th 2014 ,
Neil sturrock, Chris Wilson,Craig McCallay,Robert Mc Dowall and Iain Corson from Dumfries are cycling from Glasgow’s southern general to Yorkhill then to St Michael’s cemetery in Dumfries to Ben Blyth’s final resting place.
Ben was diagnosed with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (cdh) at his 20 week scan on May 10th last year and he was given a 50/50 chance of survival , he was born at Glasgow’s southern general on sept 19th 2013 but sadly passed away at Yorkhill children’s hospital on oct 15th 2013 at just 26 days old. Bens mum and dad (Dawn and Robert ) have been fundraising for Yorkhill ever since , the staff that took care of Ben are second to none.
Dawn, Robert and friends will also be doing a spinathon at Morrisons in Dumfries on the same day covering the equivalent distance ,
