Police are investigating what appears to be a case of sheep worrying at a farm near Cummertrees. Sometime overnight Thursday 23/Friday 24 May 2019 a ewe has been killed on the farmlands at East Upper Priestside, Cummertrees. Initial investigations indicate that the animal is likely to have been killed by a dog.
Constable Ian Dunn said “at this stage we have no reports of any dogs being at large in the area, and the farmer has not seen any dogs around his farm. At this stage we are asking for help of the public to help us identify any sightings of a dog or dogs in the Priestside area of Cummertrees. The sheep had severe throat injuries and was found dead at the scene. Anyone who can help in this investigation is asked to call police on the 101 number quoting the reference number 2558 25/5.”
