“Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Care Call Service has been made aware of a potential bogus telephone scam. Phone calls are being received by vulnerable members of society advising that someone will be attending to fit an emergency alarm system or security system. These calls are coming from an unknown number, and the person making the call is refusing to leave a company name. Please be aware that that these calls are not being made by the Care Call service, if you receive one of these calls and have any concerns please call Dumfries and Galloway Council on 030 33 33 3000 or Police Scotland on 101.

If a member of staff from the Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Care Call service contacts you they will:

•Call from a visible 01387 number
•Will always give you their name and that they are calling from Care Call, and the name of the Social Worker or Referrer
•They will arrange a suitable appointment time that works for you
•They will have a Dumfries and Galloway Council Identity Card that they will always show you, even if you don’t ask to see it
•They will be dressed in clothing with the Dumfries and Galloway Council logo

As mentioned above if you have any concerns please contact Dumfries and Galloway Council on 030 33 33 3000 or Police Scotland on 101.”
