In September Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary embarked on a 7 hour Cyclathon Challenge at Tesco, Cuckoo Bridge, Dumfries in aid of Myeloma UK. The challenge used a static bike within the foyer of Tesco taking it in turns to cycle the distance from Tesco Dumfries to Myeloma UK headquarters in Edinburgh. By the end of the 7 hours over 130 miles had been cycled smashing the target and in doing so raising an amazing £891.23 by the very generous donations from Tesco shoppers.
Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer with approximately 5900 people diagnosed each year. Myeloma UK supports pioneering research and advocates for patients to get access to new treatments, but the ultimate goal is to find a cure. To learn more, visit myeloma.org.uk/thanks-to-you.
The event could not have happened without the input of Rotarians and friends involved giving their time and effort in collecting and cycling for the event.
