GELSTON ‘HEAD’ TEACHER MAKES A ‘BALD’ DECISION

Gelston Primary  teacher Nicola Reid’s pupils had a shock when they returned to school after the October holidays, when they saw their School ‘HEAD’ had  ‘Braved the Shave’ for cancer charity .

Nicola from Castle Douglas who did the shave in memory of her mum has been amazed by the £2200.41 total that she managed to raise for MacMillan Cancer Support, and want’s to thank everyone that has generously supported her.

Nicola Said “My story for doing the “Brave the Shave” Started because I lost my mum ‘Linda’ to cancer 3 years ago.  Her close friend usually hosted a MacMillan Coffee Afternoon at this time of year in her memory but due to personal circumstances, she was unable to do so this year.  So I decided I would take the “Cancer Gauntlet” on and do the shave to fundraise instead.

She went on to say “My initial target was £500 and I have been astounded at the generosity of family, friends, school staff/parents/pupils and new acquaintances, having smashed that target which now stands at an amazing £2200.41.  Too many people close to me have been affected by cancer and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for donating to my shave fund.
