Incorporated Trades Of Kirkcudbright Welcome First Overseas Member

Following the Annual General Meeting of the Haill Six Incorporated Trades of Kirkcudbright which was the admission of lady members for the first time, the Trades have announced their first overseas member. A relaxation in residential rules at the AGM has led to Robert Pryor being admitted to the Clothiers Incorporation.

Mr. Pryor, a native of Cambridge is a beef farmer in Venezuela. He first became interested in the Incorporated Trades on a chance meeting with Deacon Convener Ian D Swan at a dinner held by the York Cordwainers, an organization with close links to Kirkcudbright.

After completing his education at Kings College, Robert worked extensively overseas, mainly in the oil industry. At the turn of the Millennium, he bought an abandoned and run down farm in Venezuela which had no transport links. He had a road constructed and the buildings restored in keeping with the vernacular. He has added two small valleys to his farm and cleared scrub to allow his cows to graze. Adjacent to the farm he has a large cloud forest protected by fencing. Robert is keenly interested in cultural events and runs a foundation which promotes Venezuela events. With business interests in the United Kingdom, he hopes to be able to attend Incorporated Trades events during visits home.
