INTERACTIVE PLAY,TALK,READ BUS TO TOUR DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY

Play, Talk and Read Roadshows come to region

An interactive play bus is returning to Dumfries and Galloway next week, so that parents and carers of young children can climb aboard with their child and find out how to Play, Talk and Read with their youngsters and get them off to a great start.
‘Benji’ the double decker bus is kitted out with games, interactive books and DVD’s and is hosted by a number of play workers who can give families lots of top tips for ways to engage with their little ones. Parents are encouraged to participate in all activities and are provided with great ideas for low cost ideas for play at home. There may even be a little parting gift those who pop along…
This year’s visit sits alongside a series of indoor activities run by local agencies where families can find out more about what’s on in their area as well as try a few different types of activities and have a tea or coffee and healthy snack.
There will also be an opportunity to find out about the newly launched Maternity Link group and how you could get involved in shaping the future of our local maternity service.
Councillor Tom McAughtrie, Chair of Community and Customer Services Committee said;
“We are delighted to welcome the Play, Talk, Read bus back to the region and following its previous visits, expand on the activities offered. Giving our young people the best start in life is a priority for us all, and to achieve this it is vital we support positive relationships between parent and child from the start. I look forward to hearing the feedback from all who participate.”
The bus visits Sanquhar, Dumfries, Annan, Newton Stewart and Stranraer . Sessions will run from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.
