Trailbrakes triumphs at the Scottish Drupal Awards
A website built for a Kirkcudbright based cycling holiday company, Trailbrakes Biking Holidays, has won the accolade of Best Drupal Website (Scotland) at an awards ceremony last weekend.
The site, designed and built by Dumfries based company Findlay Design, was up against other Drupal websites from across Scotland and it drew praise from the judges for its clear purpose and well executed design.
Drupal is a community-led open source software platform used throughout the world to build websites. High profile sites such as the White House, Oxfam and the Rio 2016 Olympics are all built using Drupal.
Website Developer Rachel Findlay said:
“The idea behind this award is to recognise the best Drupal website built in Scotland over the past year, but best doesn’t always mean the biggest.
“The site we built for Trailbrakes was modest in size and budget, but what made it special was the thinking that went on behind the scenes.
“The business had a very clear idea of exactly what they wanted their website to do, how they wanted it to work and what experience they wanted to create for their customers, and it was super to see the panel of judges recognise this.”
Christine Finlay who owns Trailbrakes Biking Holidays said:
“We’re surprised but thrilled that our website has been recognised in this way. Trailbrakes is all about providing a flexible, bespoke experience for our customers, so we wanted our site to reflect this and to showcase photos of real people out enjoying wonderful cycling experiences.
“We are delighted with how easy the website is to use and maintain and we’ve already seen increased bookings and enquiries through it. Winning this award is the icing on the cake.”
The Best Drupal Website award was sponsored by Cathcart Associates and was presented at Drupal Camp Scotland, at The University of Edinburgh on Saturday 7th November.
