On Wednesday 28th June the Past President of the Inner Wheel of Kirkcudbright Gwendoline Shaw and ladies of the club handed over cheques for £540 each to Stevie Carr Project Leader for the SCVS QR Project and the Reverend Stephen Hazlett for Missions To Seafarers as some of the money they have raised and distributed during 2016/17.
Stevie Carr said “Stewartry CVS is currently developing its QR Medi project. This will utilise modern technology in the form of a Quick Response (QR) Code to store peoples medical information, so should they become ill and require treatment from a first responder key potentially lifesaving information will be available. We are working closely with local GP surgeries and the Ambulance service to deliver the project and will be launching this free service soon.”
Reverend Stephen Hazlett said “Having worked as a Chaplain in Rotterdam with Seafarers in one of the busiest ports in the world I know how much good this sum of money will contribute for seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs. This enables the charity to offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to seafarers through ship-visits, Flying Angel seafarers’ centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services.
