Many places will enjoy dry weather this weekend with temperatures also above average after a chilly August so far.
Although there will be a bit of a split in the weather over the coming days, much of England and Wales will see bright and dry conditions with sunny spells. Temperatures will reach the mid 20˚Cs across the south where it will feel quite warm with light winds. However, a few showers can’t be ruled out, especially across the south on Sunday.
Further north, Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of northern England will see rain or showers at times, but there will also be some brightness, with the best chance of some sunshine during Saturday afternoon and during Sunday. Temperatures here are likely to be in the range of 17-21˚C.
Looking ahead to Monday, which is a Bank Holiday in all the home nations bar Scotland, Martin Young, Deputy Chief Meteorologist said: “The weather will begin to change from the northwest during Bank Holiday Monday, with increasingly windy, cloudy and wet conditions spreading southeastwards to many northern and western areas of the UK.
“However, for southern England and Wales, although the breeze will pick up, much of the day will probably be dry and bright with the best of the sunshine across southern and southeast England where it should again feel pleasantly warm with temperatures in the low to mid 20˚Cs.”
