Police Scotland now report that a man has been pronounced dead at the scene of the two car road traffic crash on the A701 road near to Cragielands House, Beattock. A second man has been taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with what are described as serious injuries. The road at the scene will be closed for some considerable time to allow for a full crash investigation to take place.
Diversions have been put in place.
| Diversion: | The road operating company advise road users travelling south on the M74 leave at J17 Lockerbie then take the A709 to Dumfries. Northbound traffic in reverse. |
