The new Coat of Arms has now been erected at the roundabout in Castle Douglas and it was officially unveiled last week.
Talented local artist Hazel Campbell kindly offered her services and skillfully painted the new Coat of Arms in striking blues, yellows, greys and reds. Local Community Champion from 2020 Colin Wilson was delighted to be at the launch and said, ‘It was lovely to see the coat of arms in situ welcoming visitors to the town and the motto ‘Forward’ has been very applicable to our positive thinking community in Castle Douglas.’
Treasurer of the Community Council, Martin Fortnum added, ‘It’s nice to see our coat of arms so prominently displayed at the roundabout as you enter the town.’ The Council and officials thanked Hazel Campbell in person for her hard work, artistic skills and dedication towards the project. The coat of arms and beautiful flower display as you come into Castle Douglas is certainly an impressive sight.
