POLICE PROBE LATEST SPATE OF THEFTS IN DUMFRIES

Thefts – Dumfriesshire

Police Scotland is investigating a further spate of thefts which have happened across Dumfriesshire. In the first a quantity of lead was stolen from the Hoddom Castle Caravan Park at Hoddom, Lockerbie. The theft happened sometime overnight Sunday 28/Monday 29 February 2016 and the lead is valued at around £30.

In another incident, a Bell make wacker plate valued at £700 was stolen from a building site at Turnberry Road in Annan sometime between Saturday 27 and Monday 29 February 2016.

Garage premises at Castlehillgate Garage, Castlehillgate in Lochmaben were broken into and a large amount of diagnostic equipment stolen. A Nextbase dash-cam, a battery charger and a borescope were also taken. The property is valued at many hundreds of pounds. The garage was broken into sometime overnight Sunday 28/Monday 29 February 2016.

The Towerwood Golf Centre in Dalbeattie Road in Dumfries was the subject of a break-in sometime overnight Sunday 28/Monday 29 February 2016. Cash and a quantity of confectionery, soft drinks and coffee were stolen in the raid. Again the value is into the hundreds of pounds.

Detective Inspector Dean Little at Dumfries said “we are still being hit with thefts across the Division and at this stage are keeping an open mind as to which ones might be connected. We urge the public to keep the calls coming in whenever they see or hear anything which might be unusual or suspicious. The 101 number should be used for this purpose.”
