NIGHTIME RAIDERS TAKE CIGARETTES FROM LANGHOLM SUPERMARKET

Detectives are continuing enquiries and appealing for information after the Co-op in Glenesk Road, Langholm was broken into on Thursday 21 April 2016.

Police were called around 0235 hours this morning to the store where a quantity of cigarettes had been stolen.

Detective Inspector Scott Young said today:

“Enquiries are continuing in the local area and officers are currently gathering and studying CCTV footage in an effort to gather more information on this crime and those responsible.

“I would urge anyone who saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area to come forward to police as a matter of urgency.  In particular I would like to trace two men who were seen in the Waverley Road area around 11.30pm on Wednesday evening.  They were wearing dark coloured clothing and baseball caps.

“Officers are also keen to find out information on two vehicles seen between 11.30pm last night and 3am this morning.  One was a light coloured transit-type van and the other was a small white hatchback car.

“The police investigation is continuing into similar incidents at the Co-op petrol station in Lockerbie and the Co-op in Moffat last month.  We believe that these previous incidents are linked to this break-in.”
Anyone with any information that can assist the ongoing investigation is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.  Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
