Sellafield Put Into ‘Safe Shutdown’ After Weather Causes Steam Shortage

Adverse weather overnight has resulted in a loss of steam supplies at the Sellafield site in Cumbria, across the Solway from Dumfries and Galloway.

A Spokesperson stated “Recovery work is underway with nuclear facilities as the priority.

As a precaution operations on the site have been placed into safe shutdown.

Personnel due to attend the site for work are advised that normal working arrangements are to be followed unless directed otherwise.
