The Scottish SPCA is appealing for the owner of a hen found wandering in Dumfries.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted when the bird was spotted in East Cluden Village on Tuesday (4 November).
The hen is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Ayr, where she has been nicknamed Doris.
Centre manager Marion Hainey said, “We don’t know how Doris came to be found straying at this stage.
“She may have managed to escape from home but we’ve also dealt with cases in the past where birds have been stolen and then dumped.
“Hopefully someone is missing Doris and they come forward. If not we’ll find her a loving forever home.”
Anyone who recognises Doris is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA’s centre in Ayr on 03000 999 999.
