TALES FROM THE BASELINE -A HISTORY OF DUMFRIES LAWN TENNIS CLUB

Tales from the Baseline – A History of Dumfries Lawn Tennis Club

David Dutton’s new book, Tales from the Baseline: A History of Dumfries Lawn Tennis Club, will be launched at the Ewart Library in Dumfries at 7pm on Tuesday, 18 November.
The book traces the fortunes of the club from its foundation in 1880 (making it perhaps the oldest surviving tennis clubs in Scotland) to the present day. It thus provides an important story in the social history of the town.
Chair of the Council’s Community and Customer Services Committee Councillor Tom McAughtrie said;
“This new book about the Dumfries Lawn Tennis Club includes names of many local people who helped in its development and organisation through the years. It is great that this club’s history is being told for the first time. “
All are welcome. In particular, it is hoped that former members will take this opportunity to renew their acquaintance with the club. There will be a short talk about the book, an exhibition of tennis memorabilia and an opportunity to buy copies of the book at £5 each.
