‘Pat Archer’ Is Coming To Cream O’ Galloway

Archer’s fans will be excited to learn that Patricia Gallimore, better known as Pat Archer the matriarch of the sometimes frustrating Archers clan, will be appearing at Cream o’Galloway as part of the BIG LIT Festival on Friday April 15th @ 7.00pm. As the driving force behind Bridge Farm’s organic success her appearance at Cream o’ Galloway is appropriate given their commitment to organic dairy farming.

‘Pat and Tony converting Bridge Farm to organics led to my going to many events and getting to know real life organic farmers and producers, many of whom have remained good friends’ says Patricia.’ So it’s a real pleasure to be appearing at Cream ‘o Galloway’.

Chrys Salt, Artistic Director of the Festival, who, in a earlier life, appeared in The Archers as Sid Perk’s first girlfriend, will invite Patricia  to talk about her career and  read from favourite books and poems she would take with her on a long solitary winter holiday.  Afterwards there will be an opportunity to meet Patricia and share a sit-down meal of locally sourced food hosted by Cream o’ Galloway.

At the beginning of her career Patricia Gallimore won the coveted Carleton Hobbs award from the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama, and her career began with a six month contract with the BBC Radio Drama Company . Subsequently, alongside her Archer’s success, she has continued to work regularly in radio and other audio work, with occasional TV appearances. In the early 90s she began recording audio books for several different companies and has now notched up over 200 unabridged audio books.

‘We are delighted to be hosting this event at Cream o’ Galloway and to be part of this year’s BIG LIT Festival,’ says Wilma Finlay MBE, Cream o’ Galloway’s Managing Director, ‘This is just one of the many exciting events on offer over BIG LIT weekend.’

Big Lit: The Stewartry Book Festival takes place in Gatehouse of Fleet and other places between  April 14 and 17. More information and box office numbers available on www.biglit.org
