Absolute Classics, based in Dumfries & Galloway, are set to bring two award-winning musicians to Dumfries and Galloway this month.
Tickets are available for the 22nd – 25th of February.
The concerts and festival are led by highly-acclaimed international musicians, such as; Karine Georgian, Tasmin Little and Nicky Spence, who also provide tutoring and mentoring opportunities to young musicians as part of the Absolute Classics programme.
Almost at the end of their current 2017/18 series, next up is James Newby & Simon Lepper.
An introduction to the artists:
James Newby, Baritone
British Baritone James Newby is the winner of the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Award. That same year he was the recipient of the Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera Voice Fellowship, and in 2015 was awarded the Richard Tauber Prize (for best interpretation of a Schubert Lied.) In 2017 he was awarded the Trinity Gold Medal by the board of Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
Simon Lepper, Piano
Simon Lepper was educated at Kings College, Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music. He is currently professor of piano accompaniment at the Royal College of Music and teaches at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He is an official accompanist for the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. He has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall.

Absolute Classics offer monthly concerts across four different venues in the region; Holywood Hall in Dumfries, The Buccleuch and Queensberry Arms Hotel in Thornhill, Annan Academy in Annan and Cochran Hall in Kirkcudbright.
