DJ Jay R, from San Francisco, California, will travel to Dumfries to perform alongside other leading talent from local, national, and international scenes for a mixed-genre rave, with all proceeds from ticket sales and on the night cash donations going straight to the National Deaf Children’s Society.
The event, titled DEAFQON 2.0, is the second of its kind following the success of the pilot DEAFQON event last year which raised £2000 for the charity.
Last years’ event was headlined by leading Scottish Hardstyle DJ ‘AVI8’, who will be returning this year as part of an expanded line-up, thanks to the success of the previous DEAFQON rave. The line-up will also feature Peter Coughlan DJ’s set from ULTRASONIC.
Speaking about the upcoming event, organiser Kyle Lindsay said:
“After an amazing first start for DEAFQON last year, we were excited to be able to expand the line-up for 2020 and attract more talent from a wider field.
“There’s a real thirst for this kind of thing in the town, and it’s wonderful to be able to bring leading talent from around the UK and the wider world to the town instead of having to travel to the central belt.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming these amazing DJs to our town, as well as to raising hopefully even more cash this year for the wonderful people at the National Deaf Children’s Society who continue to do amazing work supporting kids like my niece Robyn and their families.”
BACKGROUND:
Kyle Lindsay started DEAFQON to raise funds for the National Deaf Children’s Society because of their wonderful work in helping his niece, Robyn. Robyn was born profoundly deaf, but thanks to the help and generous support of the NDCS, she has been able to participate in a range of special events for deaf children, and her family have been able to access awareness training and support through the charity.
