Dumfries Band ‘The Lutras’ Make Into ‘iTunes’ Top 10 With Christmas Charity Single

Dumfries and Galloway rockers The Lutras end the year on a high note with the release of their charity Christmas single, ‘Give It Up For Christmas’, which became available across all major streaming and download platforms on the 4th December and is currently sitting in 9th position in the OFFICIAL iTunes CHARTS.

With a focus on community spirit – and all proceeds split between Music Venues Trust #saveourvenues campaign and Shelter – The Lutras have rallied the troops, culminating in more than 40 musicians/artists collaborating on the project including Edinburgh’s Phoenix Choir.

Recently written by the band and remotely recorded at various venues across the country, ‘Give It Up For Christmas’ has all the hallmarks of a Christmas classic; sleigh bells, horns and a positive message.

Like the rest of the world, 2020 hasn’t been kind to us. It started off with so much purpose; big plans centred around tours, festivals and studio time. Of course, that all came crashing down with the Coronavirus,” the band explained.
“Give It Up For Christmas gave us some hope and a focus to recalibrate our own mental health. Hopefully lots of other people can take joy from the record too. But it’s not just about Christmas – people are losing their jobs, people are homeless, honest businesses are closing for good – this song is about supporting those that need it the most.”

In support of the release, The Lutras are fundraising through an exclusive stripped-back set for their followers on Facebook and Instagram; this goes live from 7pm at Lovers Lane Studios on Sunday 20th December.
