Dumfries & Galloway Festival Nominated For National Event Of The Year

The Newton Stewart and Minnigaff Traditional Music and Dance Festival has been nominated for the highly prestigious Event of the Year accolade at the national MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards

The Newton Stewart and Minnigaff Traditional Music and Dance Festival ceremony will be broadcast live from the Caird Hall in Dundee on BBC Alba on 4 December at 9.00 p.m. so you can see if your vote has helped our region to be successful.

The Newton Stewart and Minnigaff Traditional Music and Dance Festival brings top class musicianship to the area. This year’s festival featured Ron Block – a 14 time Grammy winner, and you don’t get too many of them visiting Dumfries and Galloway!

Plans are already well developed for next year’s festival which will take place from 7 to 9 July 2023 with the Ciaràn Ryan Band, Heisk and Flook already lined up to perform.

Centred around the Vault Arts Centre in Newton Stewart the Newton

Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music and Dance Festival sees some of its top musicians offer tuition to local people and festival goers while the Highland Dancing competition in Minnigaff attracts dancers of all abilities and ages for another of the festival’s highlights.

Bringing the Event of the Year award to Dumfries and Galloway on national TV would be a fabulous boost for the region so please get voting now!
