University Of Glasgow Chapel Choir Perform At Spring Concert

Following the success of the annual Christmas Concert, the University of Glasgow’s School of Interdisciplinary Studies in Dumfries was once again honoured to welcome the University of Glasgow Chapel Choir back to the Crichton Memorial Church on Saturday 13th May for its first spring concert in Dumfries.

The performance from the choir, consisting of 30 members of staff and students and conducted by Katy Lavinia Cooper, Director of Chapel Music, included some pieces which were written and performed by current students. The University Organist, Kevin Bowyer, accompanied the choir on the night and also delighted the audience with his organ recitals.

The evening was exceptionally well received by the audience and a local charity will now benefit from their generous donations on the night.

Dr Carol Hill, Head of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies in Dumfries opened the event by welcoming the choir back to Dumfries: “It really is an honour to welcome the University of Glasgow Chapel back to Dumfries for another concert and of course we hope this event will also become an annual event in our social calendar. We are always delighted to showcase the talent of the choir and our university organist in the local community. I would like to thank Katy and Kevin and the choir members for performing in Dumfries for us and to everyone who attended and contributed so generously to our retiring offering.”
