The opening meeting of the Islesteps Accordion and Fiddle Club takes place on Tuesday 3rd September in Locharbriggs and District Social Club when Nicky McMichan and his ‘six piece’ Scottish Dance Band will take to the stage as guest artistes for the evening.

Nicky originally from Lockerbie, but now residing in Moffat, and popular as an accomplished accordionist and multi-instrumentalist playing drums and piano in other bands, will be joined at Locharbriggs by his trusty band members who have recently recorded their first album and broadcast regularly on the BBC ‘Take the Floor’ programme.

John Caskie secretary and compere at the Islesteps club, will welcome the usual variety of talent from local, visiting and supporting players who will perform prior to the guest artistes each side of the interval.

Nicky is a regular at the Islesteps club, as a supporting player, the club are however, delighted that they have secured the services of the band for the opening night. The popularity of Nicky and his band takes them the length and breadth of Scotland playing at various functions, accordion clubs, Scottish country and ceilidh dances.

Admission is free for players and only £3.00 for spectators. The club will host their monthly raffle draw and there will be the chance to purchase the National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs monthly magazine ‘The Box and Fiddle’
