Youth Beatz 2018 Festival Awarded £50,000 Funding From Council

Organisers of Youth Beatz are delighted this week as it was announced that they will receive a £50k grant from the Nithsdale Area Committee Discretionary Budget 2017/2018.

Chair of the Nithsdale Area committee, Ronnie Nicholson, said “Youth Beatz 2017 was an outstanding success enjoyed by so many young people and families from throughout Dumfries and Galloway. With over 2,300 people having attended the fringe events, 12,000 attended the music day. There were over 140 young volunteers who helped organise and run the events, developing skills which will help them with their future careers.”

Youth Beatz 2018 is looking even more exciting and successful than it was before and its importance highlighted when it was entitled a ‘ring-fenced’ project by Nithsdale Area Committee.

2018 is the ‘Year of the Young People’ and also Youth Beatz’ 10 years anniversary. Nationally, Event Scotland has recognised the success of the Youth Beatz festival here in Dumfries and Galloway and wants it to become a signature event for the special year. This funding from the Area committee, with support from Event Scotland will allow it to be one of Scotland’s ‘Year of the Young People’ main events as well as continuing to be an award winning educational experience.
