Advance Warning Of A76 Closure South of Sanquhar

On behalf of Transport Scotland, Scotland TranServ is proposing to patch approximately 1km of the A76 South of Sanquhar at Enterkinfoot. In order to protect the health and safety of the workers and the motoring public, it will be necessary to complete the works under a weekend closure of the trunk road, from Friday 19th to Monday 22nd of July.

Michael Pagan, Scotland TranServ’s Network Area Manager for Dumfries and Galloway said:

“We’ve been working in consultation with local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders to carefully schedule these works. By programming works for the weekend, we hope to minimise the impact on local commuters and businesses using the A76 between Kilmarnock and Dumfries. Every attempt has also been made to avoid local summer events in the timing of the closure.
“Because of the nature of the trunk road and narrow width of the carriageway in this section, it is necessary to close this section of the A76 while works are being carried out. A lengthy diversion will be necessary to accommodate all vehicle types. Drivers are asked allow plenty of extra time for their journey over the weekend of the closure. We would like to thank motorists for their patience while this important resurfacing programme is completed.”

In order to complete these works as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to close the A76 in this area during the following times:

  • 7pm on Friday the 19th to 6am on Monday the 22nd of July

To help minimise further disruption to the community, the Enterkinfoot Road Realignment project will also utilise the closure to complete some drainage road crossings.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. Live trunk road updates will be available by visiting trafficscotland.org, or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
