Advance Warning Of Essential Maintenance On The A77 From Dowhill To Chapelton Burn

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential maintenance on the A77 between Dowhill and Chapelton Burn from Saturday 9th April until Friday 22nd April 2022, between the hours of 8pm and 6am, each night.

This scheme, with a value of £530,818, will benefit vehicles using this route each day by improving safety and efficiency, and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The work will be carried out using the following closures:

  • Saturday 9th April – Friday 22nd April 2022 (inclusive) – Overnight road closures between the hours of 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place (detailed below). Temporary traffic lights will be in place during the day to facilitate cooling of deeper sections of treatment. The existing layby will remain closed during this period.
  • No works will be carried out from Friday 15th April until Monday 18th April 2022.

Diversion is as follows:

Traffic travelling northbound will exit the A77 onto the B734 to Old Dailly, and continue until Dailly, where vehicles will join the B741. Traffic will continue northbound on the B741 for 4 miles before keeping left at the fork to join the B7023 northbound. Vehicles will turn left at the next junction onto the B7023 and continue northbound into Maybole. Traffic will turn left at the junction onto the A77, which becomes the A77 Kirkoswald Road. Vehicles can then return to Dowhill or continue towards the north using the A77 Maybole bypass.

Southbound traffic will follow the same diversion in reverse. However, at the end of the diversion, vehicles will turn left and follow Coalpots Road towards the Shallochpark roundabout, where they will be able to re-join the A77.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
