Appeal For Dashcam Footage Launched After A Man Dies In M74 Traffic Collision

A 32-year-old man has died following a road crash on the M74 on Saturday, 29 January, 2022.

Around 7.50am, police received a report of a two-vehicle road crash involving a lorry and a car on the M74 near junction 10 and 11.

A lorry was travelling northbound when it crashed through the central reservation barrier and onto the other side of the carriageway where it collided with a car travelling southbound.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the lorry, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s family has been informed.

The male driver of the other vehicle, a black Land Rover Discovery,  was uninjured but has been left badly shaken by the incident.

An investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of the collision.  The road remains closed to allow crash scene investigators to examine the scene and conduct enquiries.

Officers are appealing to any motorists who were on the M74 with any dash cam devices to check their footage. It’s possible it may have captured images which could assist officers in their enquiries.
