Essential Maintenance On The A76 From Kirkconnel Arc To Polneul Cottage Commences Monday 7th March

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential maintenance on the A76 between Kirkconnel ARC and Polneul Cottage from Monday 7th March until Monday 21st March 2022, between the hours of 7pm and 6am, each night.

This scheme, with a value of £312,904, will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future. Residents will also benefit from reduced noise pollution on the scheme’s completion.

For the protection of the work force and the travelling public, the work will be carried out using total overnight closures at this location, with a signed diversion route in operation. The installation of single lane working day-time temporary traffic lights may also be required to allow the surface material to cool.

A76 Northbound traffic requiring access North of Kirkconnel will be diverted onto the A702 towards the M74, following the A702 and the B7078 to join the A70 towards Muirkirk, re-joining the A76 at Cumnock.

A76 southbound traffic will be diverted off the A76, towards Muirkirk on the A70 at Cumnock and will follow a similar route to re-join the A76 at the A702 junction.

Access through the works for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

We thank road users and residents for their patience while this essential maintenance is underway.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
