Police Officer Dies In M6 Collision

Cumbria Constabulary have confirmed that a police officer has died following a single vehicle road traffic collision. 

The M6 was closed in both directions after the collison occurred on Sunday the 26th of January at approximately 2pm on the M6 Southbound between junction 44 and 43 which involved one police vehicle.

The officer – a 47-year-old man who worked for Cumbria Constabulary’s Mobile Support Group – was pronounced dead at the scene and was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Specialist officers are supporting his family at this time.
