P7 House and Vice Captains at Crossmichael Primary organised a five-day Charity Relay, raising £360 for three charities linked to topics studied throughout the year.
The event supported UNICEF (through Soccer Aid), the British Red Cross and Rainforest Trust, and saw pupils running continuously throughout the school day with at least two runners on the move at all times.
Inspired by their topics on Conflict, War and Peace, The Rainforest, and The World Cup, the P7 pupils came up with the idea of using a relay challenge to put their learning into action and make a real difference. Throughout the week, pupils from P6/7 showed tremendous determination, teamwork and resilience, even battling wet and soggy conditions towards the end of the challenge.
Thanks to the generosity of family, friends and the wider community, the pupils raised an impressive £360. It was lovely to see the class come up with such a fantastic idea and put into practice so much of what they had learned during the year.
Mrs Burton said “We are incredibly proud of the pupils for their enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment. They showed great resilience throughout the week, and it has been wonderful to see them making a positive difference through causes that are meaningful to them.”
The whole school community has praised the pupils for their efforts and the positive impact they have made through the Charity Relay.
