Dumfries Town Board is pleased to announce details of the 17 projects that will be supported in the first year of the Pride of Place programme.
These projects represent the significant investment in Dumfries’ future and have been selected to help deliver the Town Board’s long-term vision for the town, collectively supporting our three key Pride of Place themes of Stronger Communities, Thriving Places, and Taking Back Control.
The projects we are taking forward include a diverse range of community-led initiatives, heritage projects, regeneration activity, restoration of historic and long-derelict buildings, environmental improvements, skills and training opportunities, cultural development, tourism initiatives, and new digital communication platforms that will help connect residents, businesses, and visitors.
Together, these projects will help strengthen communities, enhance the appearance and vitality of the town, celebrate Dumfries’ rich history and culture, support local organisations and businesses, and empower local people to play an active role in shaping the future of their town.
All of the projects are ready to begin delivery and will bring immediate benefits to communities across Dumfries, while others lay the foundations for longer-term transformation and sustainable growth.
Chair of Dumfries Town Board, Kenny Bowie, said:
“It is important for us to deliver real and visible benefits for Dumfries from day one. These Year One Pride of Place projects are a strong mix of investment in our people, our town centre, our heritage, our businesses, and our community spaces.
What is particularly exciting is that these are practical, deliverable projects that are ready to move forward now and spend Pride in Place Funds responsibly . They will help create jobs, attract visitors, improve our environment, support local organisations, and build confidence in Dumfries as a place to live, work, invest and visit.
This is just the beginning of our long-term vision for Dumfries, and we look forward to working with partners and the wider community to make that vision a reality.”
